The SFBAA will be hosting a Safety Day on Friday, February 24th, from 10am to 3pm at the Sheltair FBO at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (FLL).

Registration begins at 9:30am.

Participants will view a live demonstration from the US Coast Guard on their rescue procedures as well as view their aircraft.  In addition, we have selected three expert speakers to help create a day-long seminar on the value and best practices of corporate aviation safety.  We have been approved to receive NBAA CAM Credit for those in attendance.

GREG FEITH has worked as a Safety and Security Consultant and an expert witness. Many industries benefit from the lessons that have been learned in aviation about human factors. With 20 years with the NTSB, Greg was Senior Air Safety Investigator on many high profile air disaster investigations including the 1996 Valujet crash in the Florida Everglades, the 1997 controlled flight into terrain (CFIT) accident in Guam involving a Korean Air Boeing 747-300, the 1994 American Eagle ATR 72 crash in Roselawn and numerous others. He is ATP rated with over 2,800 hours of flight time. To aid in the investigations, Greg has attended a surprising number of flight and ground schools and training classes on various equipment. "Lessons Learned" was developed utilizing his firsthand knowledge from thousands of accident investigations. Taking the lessons from mistakes that result in accidents, and utilizing his investigator perspective, the message provides a unique and thought-provoking perspective on how we can do a better job of enhancing safety in aviation. This information will hopefully prevent the same errors from being repeated, and provide an understanding of the human factors elements inherent to the causes of most accidents. As a self-proclaimed Evangelist for Aviation Safety, Feith speaks about risks and hot issues that compromise flight safety in both GA and airline industry. He can be seen regularly as a Safety and Security Expert on NBC, MSNBC as well as History Channel, and PBS. Greg can be seen on a number of television shows including Secret of the Black Box, Why Airplanes Crash, Mayday, Seconds from Disaster, Survival in the Sky and others.

CATHERINE FISH has taught thousands of entertaining aviation safety courses throughout the United States and Europe. Her unusual and hilarious aviation stories get the audience laughing in Flying Fish's Wild, Wacky & Outrageous Pilot Whoppers.  Flying since 1973, she is a certified single-engine, multi-engine and instrument flight instructor. Her more than 6,000 hours of flight time includes flying for a commuter airline, flying as a USDA contract pilot and teaching 300 students how to fly. Cathe was a Professor of Aviation Technology at Cochise College for five years. She has been an AOPA Air Safety Foundation favorite lead instructor since 1983. Cathe has taught more Flight Instructor Revalidation Clinics than anyone alive. Her motivating seminars are upbeat and fun with lots of useful flying information, earning encore engagements with many groups.

PATRICK SHAUB regularly speaks on safety and human factors to general aviation, military and EMS audiences.  He started flying airplanes in Houston as a high school student. After he graduated from college he joined the US Marine Corps and became a pilot in the CH-53 Sea Stallion helicopter. As a Marine he became a civil FAA airplane flight instructor. He also became a military helicopter instrument and tactics instructor in the Naval Air Training Command flying the UH-1 Huey and TH-57C helicopters. After his active duty service he flew as a commercial helicopter pilot, air ambulance pilot, airplane and helicopter flight instructor and instrument flight instructor in the Texas Army National Guard. Pat is also an entrepreneur who has bought and sold aircraft internationally. He founded and served as Director of Operations for two air ambulance services in Texas. One service operated helicopters, the other operated helicopters and later jets that flew international air medical operations.
